"Makana was fantastic." The MIM, Phoenix, July 2015

Makana by Moonlight welcomes a trio of musical talents

December 6, 2012, The Maui News

Audience comments from Kaumakaiwa and Makana performance, Irvine Barclay Theater, 13 april 2011

--Had the most amazing evening last night at the Irvine Barclay, listening to the powerful voice of Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole and the guitar prodigy Makana. What a treat to see two Hawaiian musical masters performing in such a relaxed atmosphere where they were having fun, cracking jokes and being silly. Props to the Irvine Barclay for bringing the talent to create such a memorable evening.

--fantastic combo of music. i've recommended both artists, especially makana, to my friends and family. spent time this weekend downloading their music. very memorable evening
--The history of slack key guitar combined with the culture of Hawaiina makes for a truly delightful evening that transcends our every day limits. To open oneself to the pureness of one's heart is an exquisit treat. I would recommend this to all who would like a break from the worlds they know.

--Incredible night....I loved the venue but the music is what I came to hear and I was not disappointed! Very entertaining and I'm still humming Hawaiian music this morning! Keep 'em coming!

From Kahilu Theatre, Kamuela, Hawai'i Island: "The show was wonderful!"

and following an education service at the local middle school:
"We are deeply grateful for today's student concert with Makana and Bolo -- they were terrific...so suited to middle schoolers!  Students (and teachers) went a little crazy when Makana pretended to mix and eat poi while playing a traditional slack key number taught to him by Ledward...and then throwing his foot over the neck of the guitar...very fun!  ...Yes, the kids loved it.

We also appreciated Makana's talk about "finding your passion" and that it's okay to be different...to follow your own dreams!  Extremely age appropriate...and they were listening...how cool is that!"

Warm aloha,
